In order to ease my workflow, I\u2019ve developed this YouTube design kit, which is a series of templates allowing me to create and preview my design offline before it is uploaded to the network. Find out more here<\/a><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the <\/span><b>YOUTUBE SOCIAL MEDIA DESIGN KIT &#8211; 2018<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> file uncompressed you will find the files inside.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In here you will find a series of template files to compose your profile image, profile header image and thumbnails.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You will also find the YouTube UI demo document which you will paste your artwork files into, to preview.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the <strong>\u20184 &#8211; YT_UI_DEMO_2018.psd\u2019<\/strong> open you will see a blank document ready to paste in your own artwork. Here is a logo profile image design I have prepared earlier. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Notice the layers are contained in the masked folder.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>PREVIEW THE PROFILE IMAGE &#8211;\u00a0<\/b><b>STEP \u00a02<\/b><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the blank UI demo template, in the layers panel, if you double click on the top <strong>\u20181 &#8211; PROFILE IMAGE\u2019<\/strong> smart object layer you will open this in a new tab. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here you can see that this is similar to the profile image document I just demonstrated which I advise you create your profile image artwork in first.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So in the profile image file I composed my artwork in, for my example the logo, I\u2019ll either copy it and then paste it into the blank smart object layer in the demo template, or drag the layers in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sure the layers are in the masked folder. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once happy I\u2019ll close this. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Back in the UI demo template, you will now see that it\u2019s updated across all devices to preview. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If required, go back to the profile image template and make any necessary tweaks, repeating the previous process to paste back into the UI demo until you are happy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once happy, right click on the <strong>\u2018CIRCLE MASK\u2019<\/strong> folder, disable the layer mask, and you will see the full square image. PROFILE HEADER IMAGE\u2019<\/strong> smart object layer you will open this in a new tab. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here you can see that this is similar to the profile header document I just demonstrated which you can create your profile header image artwork in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So if I now come to the DEMO FILES folder, in here I will see the artwork I have prepared earlier for the profile header image.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once open I\u2019ll either copy it and then paste it into the blank smart object layer in the demo template, or drag the layers in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once happy I\u2019ll close this. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Back in the demo template document, you will now see that it\u2019s updated on all devices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>TAKE NOTE:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Notice how the design looks different across UI devices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By using the safe area guides in the template the design has been made to fit the smallest UI correctly but also works well across all the others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If required, go back to the profile header image template and make any necessary tweaks, repeating the previous process until you are happy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once happy, make sure the visibility is off for each safe area, save and upload to YouTube where it should fit perfectly.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>DESIGN THE THUMBNAILS &#8211;\u00a0<\/b><b>STEP \u00a01 <\/b><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Before previewing your thumbnail images you will want to design them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">First, you will want to open<strong> \u20183 &#8211; YT THUMBNAIL.psd\u2019<\/strong> in the blank template folder.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use this document to place in your images and text to compose your profile image accurately.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>TAKE NOTE:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In the layers panel, you will see there are safe areas. This is the &#8216;Time area&#8217; where currently the time will overlap your thumbnail across devices. Be sure to avoid important thumbnail\u00a0info\u00a0there.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If I come to the DEMO FILES folder, and open <strong>\u20183 &#8211; YT THUMBNAIL_EXERCISE.psd\u2019,\u00a0<\/strong>in the layers panel you will see a series of thumbnails that have been created earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: left;\"><b>PREVIEW THE THUMBNAILS &#8211;\u00a0<\/b><b>STEP \u00a02<\/b><\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the blank UI demo template, in the layers panel, you will see eight individual thumbnail layers.
